Special Screening

Thanks to Lee Hwei Huih, my church fren, she invited me out to the special screening of Night at the Musuem 2 at midvalley… It’s my 1st time watching a movie that was yet to be released… hahaha~! so excited…!

i drove us to mid valley, after all mid valley is MY area… LOL! was surprised that there wasnt much car, ample of parking space~ COOL! i have never seen mid valley’s car park that empty before…

we had dinner at delicious! finally~!

Delicious

Well, the ambience is really nice… anyway,

Carbonara

I finally get to try the ever famous CARBONARA SPAGHETTI of this shop… erm, was abit disappointed with it lor because much has been said about this dish, my expectation of it was quite high… for me, it was abit too beefy…

Four cheese

this is 4 cheese, this one taste better, abit more salty, the aroma of it is stronger… i think it’s nicer than my carbonara…

psst: the prices has gone up like crazy…. i think it’s not really worth it… might as well eat at Chillies or San Francisco (if their prices are still the same)…

so back to the movie, there were sooooooooooooooooo many ppl~ Mix.fm and My.fm ppl were there… Hall 5 – 12 were catered for the special screening of N.A.T.M.2 … Saw a lil girl wearing masque, kinda freak me out a lil, started thinking my purpose of being there, out in the public with THAT many ppl, what if the FLU is there… *GASP*

anyway, that movie was alright, i really dono how i should write a review on it, i must admit that i wasnt as impressed as i was with the 1st episode of N.A.T.M. but certain parts of it were pretty cute and funny, i guess, it’s ok… just go and watch it la~

i think i have a lil sore throat…. GASP!!!!

what a niu year!

This year’s CNY is celebrated in a slightly different manner, instead of having everyone from the maternal side of the family coming over, all of us from Msia went over to S’pore. 4 Families altogether but 3 cars as one of the uncles is banned from entering S’pore for running away from S’pore National Service so only his wife and 2 daughters went.

my sis & i at the entrance of the hotel

The hotel is quite classy, i must say the room my family got was the best compared to rest, it looks newer & more spacious than the rest, the only down side is that there is only 1 king size bed when we would prefer it to be 2 single beds. Well, i guess we couldnt always get everything we wanted…

On the 1st night, we went over to my uncle’s house for BBQ, food was good.

2nd night was when we celebrated my ah ma’s (grandmother) birthday at 7th storey restaurant in Marina Mall. Food was ok. The 2 dishes i like most are the longevity noddle and the red bean (soup?). Apart from those, i get to try the latest cuisine in M’sia (johore, to be exact) called “pen cai” it seems that this pen caiis a korean dish. One has to eat layer by layer… Not too bad, and it sooooooo expensive!

3rd night, dinner at my uncle’s house again, this time his mother-in-law cooked, she made paiti, broccoli, Fried Tang Hoon, Fried rice, Tofu (not sure what style, but i like!) and ABC. It’s nice also…

During the day, we went walking around S’pore, my aunty with her children (13 and below) went to places like underwater and S’pore Zoo. While the rest of us went to SunTech City on the 2nd day and BugisStreet on the 3rd Day. We used the public transport instead of driving(cos their parking system is quite confusing, fr my past exp), so tend to walk alot from MRT stations to where we were heading. But because we had “functions” at night, we rushed around because we had to be back at the hotel at 4:00pm.   x.x  From this trip, i learned that no one should shop at S’pore during the 1st 2 days of CNY, cos hardly any shops are open for business!

Hotel's shuttle bus picked us up at the Changi Airport

Hotel's shuttle bus picked us up at the Changi Airport

Changi Airport is so cool, its design enables anyone and everyone to see the airplanes taking off and landing from a very close range while driving through the terminals. It such a thrills for me to see a plane taking off. Actually, some might think its terminals are all over the place, true, but without that i wouldn’t be able to see that many planes in close range. What an experience! Anyway, the purpose of me going to the Changi Airport is to take the MRT to city center.

my catch from singapore is

a pair of white sandal

a pair of white sandal

LOL! cost me about S$10 from Bugis Street. It is really comfortable.
the last time i went to Singapore, i bought a Giodarno baby-T for S$10 also.

With that said, i guess that’s roughly all that i wanted to write about my S’pore trip.

This year CNY was not celebrated with a peace of mind, because i cant stop thinking bout the unfinished works waiting for me back home. *SIGH*

The year 2009 has not really started well for me. Have a feeling I have to work as hard as a cow to sail through this year. Moooooo! Have to keep chewing and chewing the cuds in order to survive. It’s indeed a new year for me. Hope that i will be strong like an ox in facing the challenges ahead.

Last but not least, wishing everyone an OXsome and wonderful lunar niu year!

~blank~

it’s been awhile since i last updated my blog, my bad for missing in action for that long, just wasnt in the right state for it. I do have things to write, but the hassle of turning on the computer turns me off. Come to think of it, my laptop has been left lying there at the edge of my table for the past 7 days, at least. Since i have a blog therefore i am obliged to write something every now and then, alright, nonsense aside, i am now here to write what i have planned to write but having written all these nonsense i hereby announced that i have forgotten about the things that i wanted to write.

Cool, try reading that last sentence of the above paragraph in one breath! seriously, i don’t remember what i m here to write about…  @.@

Anyway, first of all, wud like to thanks God that i have settled my esmp problem(1) without any problem(2).  The problem (1) was that my esmp has been compromised. I was done registering all my subjects, then only God knows what happened, one of my subjects in my esmp disappeared, mysteriously been dropped but not by me. Seems like someone or something hacked into my esmp and meddle with my registration. Playing Dropping and reregistering my courses without me knowing it. Problema (2) i had this same prob before, went to see the admin ppl about it, but no one believed me, so i thought i will have to go through this again, but boy, was i taken by surprised, not only did they not show disbelief, they allowed me to key that dropped subject without any question asked! If they had not believed me, i wud bring this matter to the deputy dean of the faculty!

Next, San sent me the link to this junior’s blog whom i came to notice since the beginning of this sem, this girl stands out compare to her peers. San and jo identify her as my idol, but i beg to differ, she is not my idol, and never will be. Having read her blog, i am impressed and humbled by her writings. Kudos to her for the things she wrote. Below is her link:  http://blessjessyeternally.blogdrive.com/

ooh ooh, i have finally tried the new KFC Zinger tower burger, it’s humonguous! My mouth is not big enough to bite the whole burger! I would prefer it without the… erm, zesty lime sauce they called it? It’s not bad, but i think it wud taste better if it’s taken hot (the one i had was tabao for me from my sister thus it was not at all hot).

That is all for now, cant wait for the CNY holidays to come! Ciaoz…

Attention: Milk Lovers!!!

Have you ever seen a human nursing off a cow? No? Think again…

I just found out the cow’s milk is not doing any good to human bodies. It is said:” The Enzymes necessary to break down and digest milk are renin and lactase. They (the enzymes) are all gone by the age of three in most humans. There is an element in all milk known as casein. There is three hundred times more casein in cow’s milk than in human’s milk. Casein coagulates in the stomach and forms large, tough, dense, difficult-to-digest curds that are adapted to the four-stomach digestive apparatus of a cow. This thick mass of goo puts a tremendous burden on the body to somehow get rid of it, huge amount of energy is spent in dealing with it. Unfortunately, some of this gooey substance hardens and adheres to the lining of the intestines and prevents the absorption of nutrients into the body.”

okay, you say Milk is you source of calcium, right? conitnue reading then…

“Calcium in cow’s milk is much coarses than in human’s milk, and is tied up with casein. This prevents the calcium from being absorbable. Second, most milk-drinkers and cheese-eaters consumer pasteurized, homogenized, or otherwise processed products. This processing degrades the calcium, making it very difficult to utilize.

…calcium’s role in the human body is to neutralize acid in the system. and All dairy products except butter are extremely acid-forming. The irony is that ppl are consuming dairy products for calcium, and the existing calcium in their body is being used to neutralize the effects of the dairy products they are eating.”

Don’t panic and start running around like a headless chicken, “the fact is that all green leafy vegetables contain calcium (cows eat grass for their strong bones not milk wert ;b). All nuts (raw) contain calcium. And raw sesame seeds contain more calcium than any other food on earth. Also most fruit contains ample calcium. If you are eating fruits and vegetables daily and some raw nuts occasionally, you cant have a calcium deficiency.”

So, back to my 1st question, everyone of us (except for those who has never ever drank cow’s milk before) have seen or even been sukling milk from a cow~!  :P

I have not been drinking milk for some time now… because i wanna stay healthy… and lose more weight, after all this book is all about losing weight and eating right.

Today is my mummy’s birthday, so i have decided to bake make a cake for her. Dragon Fruit Chilled Cheese Cake to be exact, i’ve never tried making cheesecake before, so I was very excited about it.

I got this recipe from 8tv’s Ho Chak TV series, i don’t normally watch Ho Chak, but on that fateful sunday evening, having ntg else to do, i turned on the tv, only 5 minutes left of that episode, saw these 2 hosts half-way thru demonstrating the making of this cheese cake. The preparation seemed to be quite simple, so i thought why not make this cake for mummy on her birthday.

I did the whole cake on my own, I spent nearly 2 hours in the kitchen, standing the whole time and had even forgotten about my lunch…

To make this cheese cake, oven is not needed, instead is has to be chilled for 3 hours, during this 3 hours of wait, i cant resist myself from opening the refrigerator’s door to peep at my cheese cake every now and then.

Lo and Behold…

Dragon Fruit Chilled Cheese Cake!

Day 1 – Beijing

as you all know, i took air china to beijing, the air plane was quite small, and it’s not new, we boarded the plane at 12:10am and the plane took off at 12:20am SHARP! very punctual! Impressive! however, their announcement (in English) was really funny, i could hardly get a sentence from it, but, i managed to get this: SUPPER will be served in 15 minutes!!! hohoho!! wasnt expecting any meals from them, but GREAT! although i had heavy dinner, but i was kinda hungry…

I like the Fried Mee Hoon better, it’s really nice.. YUMMY YUMMY!

I was the 1st to fall asleep in the plane was also the 1st one to wake up, but to no avail, was very thirsty in the middle of the night, my throat was feeling abit discomfort, i needed WATER!!! I didn’t dare to ask for the cabin crew to come,  come to think of it i was so 小胆for no reason! so very THIRSTY!!! 犹豫了很久,终于the air-stewardess came with a bottle of mineral water and paper cups… why so kam siap??  Gave me only a small cup of water, i needed the WHOLE bottle!!!! that was how desperately i needed water…

anyway, reached Beijing at about 7am… but the sky was already very bright…

pa270098

erm, this was taken before i landed, at around 6+ am

and the plane stopped in the middle of no where… -.-lll

such "grand" exit.

such "grand" exit

then we braved the strong chill wind and ran to the shuttle bus that was waiting for us…

pa2701081

oh, prior to landing, there were 3 blacks sitting in front of me, when they heard that we were landing, they quickly put on their VERY THICK winter clothings, wool cap and even gloves! i stared with disbelief! they were the only ones that did that in the whole plane!!! LOL. it’s not going to be THAT cold, and to wear like that in the plane… it’s going to to be soooo hot for them, true enough, a few minutes after that, they unzipped their winter jacket and took off their gloves!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA…..

anyway, the airport is HUGE, (yet couldnt even have a proper exit for the passengers!) we went to claim our bags a little too late, hence, our luggages ended up at the Lost and Found counter! -.-lll

By right, should have filled in the plane… anyway, this also delayed us abit from claiming our luggages…

my aunty left us at home to bathe and rest while she went to do her bit for the society, to be precise, she went to help out in an orphanage, that’s her usual mondays routine… my sis and i managed to get a nap after a bath!! hehehe…

then we were off for LUNCH!!! can’t wait, cos my aunty said we were going to have DIM SUM for lunch! YAY! but before that, we paid a visit to my cousin’s international school, Internation School of Beijing. This school is exclusively for foreigners with chinese blood, hehe… VERY VERY expensive!!! Everything is very impressive about this school except for their toilet!

it has a prawn in EVERY square!! unlike the ones in Msia, one plate of Chee Cheong Fun only has 3 to 4 prawns! YUMMY

小龙包

小龙包

to eat 小龙包, you need to first poke a hole at the 包 to pour out the juice in it to the little silver cup that comes with every 包。Then you eat the 包 and lastly drink the juice. I took a sip of that juice, and i felt that i had instantly put on 1kg!

These were what my aunty ordered!

These were what my aunty ordered!

叉烧包,lobak糕,Har Gao, 云吞,麻辣面,DonDon面,菜心,and also Egg fried with Chives.
They sterilised ALL the Plates, bowls, cups, chopsticks, spoons and every other things i might have left out! Beijing is not as dirty and ulu as we all thought it to be, frankly, i have never seen any restaurants in msia that has a sterilising machine! Even small restaurant in the outskirts of Beijing (around the Great wall there) has that machine! Shame on us!

This is our Bill

This is our Bill

After converting it, it’s roughly 100 Ringgit, not too expensive right?
To seek a waitress just SHOUT with a very loud and stern voice, “服员!” (short form for服务员) LOL. unlike msia, we would be “excuse me, excuse me, bla bla bla” Awww… we malaysians are sooooo polite and soft-spoken, NO?

Then, we went to have our hair washed and cut at WENFENG salon, the brand of the shampoo used was WENFENG brand, the Logo of their shampoo is a photo of WENFENG , well, i assumed WENFENG is the name of the founder… hahaha… they all looked professional, they have uniforms, the all look like pilots and air stewardess, ladies are in charge of washing of hairs while the men style the customers’ hair. That man who cut my hair wanted to perm, colour my hair!!! and i almost allowed him to do so!!! ALMOST!!! SO CLOSE to doing it, thankfully my aunty came back in time to rescue my hair!!! That man was VERY persistent, kept saying “如果只是这里修一修,那里修一修,太没意思拉!” ARGH! so anyway, now i am with Fringe and a heavily layered hair!!! I vowed (to myself) that i no longer want to layer my hair nor do i want to have fringe ever again, and this man made me go against my own vow!!!

WenFeng Salon

after the salon, my aunty brought us to 鸟巢, Beijing 2008 OLYMPIC STADIUM, in the shape of a bird’s nest hence the name bird’s nest!

anyway, that’s about it… my 1st day in Beijing…

Bowling

went to the Mines with peggy, san and joee… Had Ajisen Ramen for lunch, not sure of the spelling though! it’s not bad (i ordered chicken teriyaki ramen), but pricey.

Went bowling with joee after lunch while the other 2 ladies went shopping…

we played 4 games, my nail (thumb) broke after the 2nd throw :(   and also i think i pulled my left thigh muscle, because somewhere around my knee hurts, sigh~ my sprained (left) ankle has not even fully receovered and here i come with another injury. TSK! TSK! what is that chinese proverb that says something like “one matter hasn’t settle but another matter has arised”?

  but it’s worth it, cos i WON!!! bwahahahahahahaha…!  :D

my marks were:

1st round = 73

2nd round = 103

3rd round = 43

4th round = 71

*blush* actually, the marks are only so-so nia… but it’s very “reasonable” considering the fact that i have not been playing for ages! hahahaha…

I am gamed for another round of bowling! but don’t know to play with who…

what is wrong with me?

i have been acting quite strangely these days, not sure why… was actually depressed on sunday, was even ready for my 2nd round of major breakdown (depression), when asked whether i would like to celebrate my bday on Monday, i just shrugged it off, cos was really not in the mood for it. so monday came, had Manhattan fish market (@ Ampang Park) for lunch with my parents, then went to sg. Chua’s Lou Yeh for dinner, mommy got me a durian cake from Aunty Lan’s. Not that i like durians, but i had no choice, this was the only cake left in Aunty Lan’s restaurant.

Durian Cake, it does look like durian with all the spikes!

Durian Cake, it does look like durian with all the spikes!

anyway, the above has not reached the part where i started acting strangely, on Monday night, i was feeling very happy, very high, not sure why, just couldnt stop smiling to myself, it was not like i have a reason to be that delighted, and my sis kept teasing me saying that i sot sot dy, but i couldn’t be bothered by what she said… lalalalalalala~~ very happy for no particular reason…

on tuesday, went out with my closest buddies from uni, took alot of photos, but wasnt too happy with how i looked in the photos, thought to myself that my bday just wasnt my day for photographs. surprisingly, it turned out ok in rika’s blog, hahahaha… maybe she has photoshopped it…

then came yesterday, duing the evening, was suddenly thrown into a state of mess, reasons unknown, but i guessed it’s a little of everything (internship report, bachelor project, courses registration, and maybe relationship problems???) my condition worsen after chatting with Joee, but was counter strike (eh??? LOL) thankfully it got better after chatting with some nice guy (shall disclose this person in near future, prayerfully i remember la) :)   thanks yea, mr nice guy!

today, 11/10/2008, online for a few minutes in the afternoon to retrieve some information from my blog for my intership report, xun bian signed in to msn to see who is online, saw someone (neh~ THAT someone ah!) onlined~! but instead of feeling very happy to see him and eager to chat with him as i SHOULD be (or so i thought, cos my heart used to skip a beat when i saw his name poped up!) i was feeling otherwise, just dont feel like talking to him at all! wat’s wrong with me lah~! it’s THAT guy leh! *sigh* does it mean that i have finally put down whatever feelings i had for him (after all the tears i shed?) ? i dont know… what would happen if i were to meet him again? would that feeling come gushing back to me? i hope not… *gasp!!!* what did i just say??

just now, while i was taking my nap, i dreamt of Prof Musa!  -.-lll our telephone conversation was something like the below:
Musa: Hello, boleh i cakap dgn How Siok Chien.
ME    : speaking…

Musa: ni prof musa.
ME    : oh! Dr!  ~swt… why did i call him dr instead of prof?~

anyway, it’s regarding thesis wan la

Musa: you say in your mail you want to make an appointment with me kan?
ME    : yes, dr, so bila you free?

Musa: tomorrow la
ME    : har~~~~~!

Musa: kenapa? tak bleh ke?  (elo! tomorrow is sunday la, anyway, i thot he meant monday)
ME    : er… boleh… so monday wat time?

Musa: What monday? tomorrow, Sunday!
ME    : *SWEAT* hah! what time…

Musa: 1pm like that la…
ME    : ok, i will inform the rest…

Musa: i cant help you all if you all don wan to help urselves.
then he hang up and i woke up. it felt so real!  *SWEAT*

my my my, things couldnt get any weirder… but dont worry mi amigos, i am still very much sane!

what happened yesterday

Woke up yesterday feeling boring, initial thought that came to mind was to go out with ah san and peggy, so smsed peggy, she in return called me, told me she is going to Bangsar with Fook Soon, and san wanting to rest wasn’t interested in joining them, so peggy persuaded me to go with them, I thought why not. Half an hour later, FS decided not to go Bangsar but straight to KLCC (his original plan was to go Bangsar then KLCC) so there’s only two of us left, but I thought it’s ok after all peggy’s plan was to meet Yoke Kim in Midvalley after Bangsar. I kept reminding peggy that I don’t wish to go home late, so if possible let’s leave at 1++pm lah. As usual, peggy needs to 打扮打扮(make up) and everything, I estimated that 1 hour should be enough for her, boy~ was I wrong, I waited for 2 hours for her to get ready!!! The time she called to tell me she was leaving her home was almost 3pm~!!!! (i vowed not to let my darling wait that long for me to get ready for an impromptu date!) All these while I was lying on my sister’s bed doing nothing, can’t sleep cuase if I were to sleep I would not want to go out anymore. Then her car broke down while she was at the petrol station. Argh! To cut the story short, she called me at 3.45pm, ask me to drive to midvalley to pick her and yoke kim up there, I was like -.-|||(psst: peggy, it’s not that I don’t dare to drive there, just that I lost the mood to do so) From the time I smsed her until then (4 hours), the urge of wanting to go jalan - jalan has subsided GREATLY. 不要去这样失望,我得是在逼我,到底想怎样?!! So at the end, the plan to go jalan jalan was scraped.  I should have known she won’t give up so easily, because minutes later, she called again to tell me her brother was willing to send her to my house, so I said “okla,来啦.”then on our way to Bangsar, just outside of midvalley south court, met with a (very) minor accident, a motor knocked into my Saga a few seconds after I stepped on the break due to the RapidKL bus there who wanted to cut into my lane! Well, thank God there wasn’t any dent on my car just a few scratches, and the uncle was apologetic and admitted his fault. Phew~~ (psst: peggy, u need not feel bad, not your fault) anyway, bout this accident, just keep it between you n me (oh, and my mother). When the right time comes, I will let my father know. Hehe..

I didnt buy anything in Bangsar, as I have already bought alot last week when i was shopping with san.

Went to midvalley at about 7.00pm. Went to Amuleto in midvalley for dinner, this restaurant was well reviewed by a quite-famous blogger in Malaysia. Actually I suggested D’lish as it has been tried and tested by a friend of mine, and was even drooling over the pictures taken of the Bolognese Carbonara. The setting and ambience of Amuleto wasn’t too bad, the prices are still not too expensive (but don’t think can afford to eat it everyday la), menu looks good, didn’t fare too badly for first impression. Had our orders taken, 2-cranberry juice, 2-seafood spaghetti aglio olio (or is it Alio Oglio?), 1-passion fruit soda and 1-carbonara spaghetti with mixed mushroom. Our fruit juices came first, having not tried cranberry juice before I took a sip of it in a matter of split seconds after taking a photo with it, it feels weird, lol, I thought it’s meant to be that way, so I didn’t comment on it until later into our dinner Yoke Kim say the cranberry juice is way too diluted. -.-|||  then came the spaghetti, was greatly disappointed when I saw it, such small serving on a HUGE square plate~! Same goes to their Aglio Olio spaghetti. The taste of my mixed mushroom spaghetti was just ok (my throat felt a teeny weeny bit of bitter‘ish’ after finishing the whole plate), kind of expecting it to be superb, but I couldn’t say the same for Aglio Olio as Peggy didn’t like it at all although Yoke Kim loves it with her only complaint that the spaghetti was still a little too hard than what it should be. The total bill was rm72++.

oh oh! just want to let peggy know that i do not blame her for anything that happened yesterday, she doesn’t have to feel bad lah. and i don’t believe in LUCK thingy, everything is God’s will~! If God wants something to happen, it will happen no matter what.  CHEERS~!

p/s: yea, peggy i knew i wrote ur name wrongly in the previous post… hahaha… just didnt know which “Pei” and which “Qi” to use. :P
